Keep it classy

We need to have a conversation.  It is important.  I'd like to bring something back, and I need you all on board.Are you ready?Girls...y'all need to wear a slip!  Did that sentence confuse you?  Do you have any idea what I am talking about?  If you have never heard of a slip, read on.  If you vaguely remember owning a slip many moons ago, but haven't put it on lately, read on.  If you are the mother of a daughter and you just thought, "I've never even bought my daughter a slip", read on.  This one is for you.A slip is an undergarment that is worn beneath a dress or a skirt.  It can be a full slip that hangs from the shoulders down the length of the dress, or it can be a half slip that hangs from the waist.  Slips are light or dark and they come in a variety of lengths to fit the kind of skirt you are wearing.If you are feeling apprehensive about this extra layer of clothing, let me reassure you.  I live in a hot and humid climate, and it is rough.  The last thing I do is add EXTRA layers for fun.  Slips are not the petticoats of the 1500s!  A modern-day slip is cool, lightweight...and frankly, a necessity.Slips allow your dress or skirt to hang the way it was meant to hang.  Occasionally, if you walk sans-slip, the skirt gets caught in between your legs.  Now you are engaged in a personal skirmish, trying to pull that skirt out of your legs with each step.  Ugh!  It's ridiculous.  Other times, you stand after sitting in your lovely skirt.  As you do, that skirt can get stuck between your cheeks (gasp!) or wedged between your upper thigh and buttocks.  Oh boy.  Heaven help us!  Actually, no heavenly help is needed.  Just put a slip under that skirt and life is as good as it can be.  Walk, sit or stand with confidence!Another purpose of the slip is to hide panty lines.  I'm sorry I just used the word panty.  Twice.Women spend a lot of time getting ready.  The clothes, the makeup, the hair...it all takes time.  And I believe most of us want to keep it classy, right?  So when we have lines from our underwear...that is the opposite of classy.  No one needs to see that.  The solution is so simple.  Slide a little slip under whatever skirt you have on, and you instantly go from trash to class.  Trust me on this.So this weekend, let's all go to the mall.  Walk confidently into the lingerie department, past the rows and rows of underwear and bras to the sad, little corner where the slips hang.  Grab your slip (or two!), boldly hand it to the cashier, and pay for your new, classy life.We are bringing sexy back, and this time, it is in the form of a slip.
