Staying Home

All this staying home business has taken its toll on me.  I'm pretty sick of it, to be perfectly honest.  However, some of my boredom has turned into learning new things.  Some new things have been fun, and some new things have been slightly depressing.  Here are the things I have learned so far:

  1. My personal life isn't that different on a day to day basis.  I must have been practicing social distancing on my own before I knew what it was called.  I have always thought of myself as an extrovert...but now I'm not so sure.  What I do know is that I now have six other people in my house all the time, and that's driving me crazy.

  2.  I have hooded eyelids.  I seriously didn't even know that was a thing before this!  I did know that eyeshadow always melts into my eyelid creases, and that you can't see what my eyeshadow looks like when I open my eyes.  Now those things have a name.  Hooded.  Great, thanks.

  3.  My hair is wavy.  It didn't used to be wavy, but it all changed when I started having kids 20 years ago.  Despite knowing this and dabbling here and there with my natural wave, I ignored it and straightened it most of the time.  No more.  I decided to commit.  There is a whole world out there that teaches you about taking care of wavy hair.  I joined a Facebook group.  I've bought a myriad of new products and tools to use.  I've watched so many youtube videos and read so many articles that my brain feels like it may explode.

  4.  Yard work takes an incredible amount of time.  Our yard has not looked better, and it's because we all have SO MUCH TIME to spend on it.  Beautiful yards and landscaping are full-time jobs.  Cheers to those of you who create that kind of beauty in your normal life.

  5.  I'm a terrible teacher.  That's all.  I'm sure that's not news to a lot of people.  But in this quarantined environment, I've come to know that I am, indeed, a terrible teacher.

  6.  I love sweatpants more than leggings.

  7.  Books are such a fantastic distraction.  I love how good books can make me think about how I want to live, and who I want to be.  I'm so grateful for the authors that write and make me ponder about my life.  We should all read more.

I hope this quarantine ends soon.  We miss our friends and our activities and Brian's work, and even the busy in our life.  But in the meantime, learning new things is a definite plus.
